CP Exhaust valve

So, I was looking at the exhaust on my new M5 w/ competition package. I noticed that the outer pipes are closed and there is a valve that controls the flap to open them.

Does anyone know what rpm they open at?

Nope but if you get the Exhaust Meister you can open /close them when ever you want =)

They open in Sport+ or at 3k RPM ish, it's a noise thing,for town driving.
I have wired mine open, sound is nice IMO.

No proof they open in sport plus as opposed to any other setting.... lots of evidence against this. Mine DO NOT open in sport plus -- maybe its a UK version thing?

I believe the RPM is 3500 where they open in any mode. I also use an exhaustmeister because sometimes its nice for them to be closed. CP exhaust is slightly louder than base exhaust both closed and open.

I was also under the impression that they are closed initially on cold-start to help warm up the Cats faster to decrease emissions.

I suspect it is a function of more than one variable; likely including engine temp, rpm, throttle position, throttle setting, etc. I got the Exhaustmeister and love it. It is very easy to install and cheap enough to make it a much better option for me than wiring the valves open.

Does the flap open and close also on the non-CP version? Can this be seen from the back of the car?
