Misfire

Hi all

Just changed all plugs and coil packs on my 2013 m5 and on startup I got a misfire. Codes says multiple misfire and injector shutdown.

I’ve checked anything I disconnected like dme but still persists

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Which plugs did you use? Bosch says the 8179 has been superseded by the 8165, which sounds like is the plug that comes in the F90 M5's. I was wondering if there was a better iridium tipped plug available but have not found much on that front, particularly for stock applications.

I replaced them with Bosch ZMR5TPP330 - same as standard.

Took the car out for a blast at lunch and it went into limp mode - guessing due to a misfire. Turned off and back on and all is fine. Will check fault codes tonight when i get back

I misspoke on the F90 M5 spark plug. The plug in the F90 M5 is a ZR5TPP320. I asked Bosch (but never received a reply,) as to what the difference was between that and the 8165 (ZR5TPP330.)

Bosch says that the main difference between the 8179 (ZMR5TPP330) plug and the 8165 (ZR5TPP330) plug is that it goes from an 8mm diameter center electrode to a 6mm diameter center electrode. Bosch says the ZR5TPP330 are approved by Bosch engineering for use in place of the ZMR5TPP330. In general, the smaller the diameter of the center electrode the lower the voltage needed to start the spark.

The dealer replaced the spark plugs on my M5 at like 8,000 miles on the odometer under part of the "BMW Ultimate Service" with the previous, original owner, so it may be a while before I venture to change my plugs again. As of now, I'd be leaning toward that ZR5TPP330 plug.
