Pretty good fake M5

Came across this the other day. Guy went to a lot of trouble to add an M5 bumper and badges. The badge above the M5 logo says "limited edition, 1 of 300" which caught my eye. Then I noticed the strange exhaust with crooked pipes.

When he turned left I noticed everything else was standard 5 series. I pulled in front of him at which point I could see the front bumper was from a 550.

He even had a custom euro plate up front that said "Bimmer M5".

I do give him an A for effort though.

Hilarious; I saw one very similar in Miami recently and tried to race the guy several times. When I finally got to a light I figured out why the guy would have none of it.

Never understood this but to each his own.

Agreed, a person who knows ///M Cars will spot a fake right away while most of the general public hardly knows an ///M 5 from a 528.

Waste of efforts here all together.

I coveted and REALLY wanted a 964 Carrera 2RS when they came out, eventually I put C2 bumbers and a genuine RS rear bumper onto a 1980's 3.2 Carrera, did the whole interior as best I could, leather covered Recarro buckets etc. Loved it but it just wasn't an RS. I then bought one, a few years later when I could just scrape the cash together, everybody said to me oh you've changed the colour of your car not realising or even understanding it was the real McCoy !!

lol, I debadged my M5 accidentally. I bought a blacked out M5 badge, and meant to put it on my car after taking the stock off but then I lost the blacked badge.... Ah well, it's an issue if you're posing your 528 or 550 as an M5, not the other way around.

But please explain this statement.
The F10 M5 used the same bumper as the existing F10 MSport. If the guys car was an MSport than he put a diffuser and exhaust on. If 550i he didn't even have to add a side to the exhaust vs a 528.
Anyways, the M5 badge and 30 Jahre badges are lame. Never understand it.
I debated my E39 M5 and preferred it that way.

this is a good replica of a f10 m5, it does fool alot of people that dont know much of how our cars are, he said he is going to remove the fog lights and he will get m style mirrors, the car does sound good and looks very clean.

If the front wings are stock it is quite an easy spot
