Unplugged Active Sound!

I think I just gained a few HP back lol...
The car has less of that V10 wannabe sound. Or the Chewbacca grunt as I call it. With my Turner muffler delete, it sounds like a proper sports/touring car.
It was very easy, if anyone's interested.
1) remove your trunk liner which is fastened in place by 2 plastic screws under the flapping portion.
Note: For those who have done the Exhaust Meister, it's in the same area on the left side of the trunk behind the carpet.

2) You have roughly 4 of 5 plastic rivets that attach secure the carpet in place. Some are under the rear deck others are in front of the tail lights.

3)You will need to work the carpet our from under the trunk hinge area first. Once you free that flap, you need to un-tuck the carpet from the outer weather stripping in order to pull the whole section including the storage shelf to expose the stupid fake maker. It looks like this below:
4)Then just unplug the wire cable cluster from the unit by pressing and swinging the locking latch to the right. So far I've had no issues.

*I am not responsible for any issues you might have. Mod at your own risk.

I don't know for sure. I just like the idea of doing something quickly that can easily be reversed.

Yes, it can be coded. I've done it (via coding) and after a couple of weeks I reprogrammed it back on. I initially loved the serenity of not hearing the generated sound but the times when I was feeling more aggressive I really missed the sound. The engine is so quiet (with the stock exhaust) without the sound that I felt I was missing the audible clues for shifting gears etc. I really wish you could enable/disable it via iDrive as I'd still turn it off when the family is in the car with me.

Solution: Get a nice axle back and you will never turn that crap on again!

I kinda like the sound of the active sound. Reminds me of a small star ship in a recent Star Trek movie.

Artificial, yes - but cool nonetheless. I get the resistance to such a feature, but don't share the hate.
