Normal time from port to dealership?

Hey Guys,

My car made it to the port on the 30th of April. I was just hoping that you guys could let me know how long your car took to get to the dealership from the port. Just excited and anxious to get the car.

You'll take delivery by 05/07. Roughly seven days from arrival at port.

Your dealer can give you an estimated dealer arrival date.

Wasn't your car aboard the Toreador?

Have you had the dealer trace your car?

Mine was delivered on May 1 after I insisted on the vehicle being traced. It was delivered with 27 more miles than when I dropped it off in Munich and the Dealer did not add those miles.

That's not good. Have your dealer track the car. They know if the transport carrier picked up the car, and they know a estimated arrival (at dealer) date.

Unfortunately, one of the reasons for a delay at VPC is damage done to the car during transport. Which does not have to and is not disclosed to the buyer.

I'm in the same situation, with my ED car having arrived in port on 4/29 but not yet at the dealer (which is only about 4hrs away). I am worried about damage and the dealer has said nothing happened.

However, I disagree that they are not required to disclose damage/repair. These are not dealer cars. These are owner cars and title has already passed to the buyer. Thus, if anything happens to it, I believe that BMWNA is obligated to disclose it.

I am writing a letter to BMWNA today requesting that they disclose any damage incurred and any repair or replacement of any part of the car. If they lie about something and a paint thickness gauge catches it on resale, you can bet your ass I'll be going after them.

Yep it was on the Toreador. I'm glad you got your car. The +27 miles is bizarre. I'll bet they put them on at Bremerhaven.

Mine's at the VPC in Port Hueneme. BMW Special Sales says they are awaiting authorization to do repairs. So I have no ETA. Needless to say I will never even consider doing Euro Delivery again.

Yep you are correct. It's well passed the ETA to dealer date and I'm waiting on a repair fix.

I was on the Boheme, docked 4/25, discharged to customs 4/26, then cleared customs May 6th. My car has been in VDC for 6 business days now, but after three inquiries by me and another my the sales manager at the dealership, they still say there is no damage. I find it hard to believe but I hope I am wrong. The reason given to my dealership was they have a software issue with the NAV and the maps. Last I checked ED maps were loaded on a USB stick so theres really nothing to do with the NAV and software. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, Stealth?

Also, why would they say there is no damage if there is, eventually it shows up on a report doesnt it? If its over a certain value? Can VDC paint/replace parts and not document it anywhere?

I wouldn't say 6 business days is excessive at all.
Given the amount of cars currently going through the VPC I'd think 10 business is realistic also as your car was ED it will take a little longer to get through the VPC due to the federal inspection before BMW even gets their hands on the car.
Also they need to load the NAV maps for the US and perform any other campaigns/software updates etc .
As for damage there is a threshold for damage reported , I believe it is around 3000$ if I remember correctly , anything higher will be reported.
Your dealer CAN see via your VIN in the BMW dealer/diagnostic system if your car has been plugged in at the VPC and diagnostics/updates have been run.
So at least you'd know it's being worked on

JMH, thank u! U and my wife are the only people keeping me sane right now. Im just going to roll with the punches, when I get it, I get it. If my (our) biggest problem right now is waiting a bit longer for an M5, we're doin alright. It was 5 days in customs tho and 6 in VDC.

If I went to VDC with my key I took from ED and took my car, is it grand theft or just trespassing? Just a stupid thought that obviously I wouldnt do, but can u steal something u own?

Mine was on the Toreador and arrived at port on 4/17, then to Salt Lake on 5/3. Hope it makes it to you soon, I hate the waiting!

So after doing ED and dealing with the Black Hole at US Customs, I vowed that I would not do ED again because I could not deal with the re-delivery wait. Well my wife ordered a Willys Wrangler Unlimited to have built for her, built in Ohio, shipped out to Staten Island via rail. The Jeep has now sat in storage for 13 days due to some Trucking Union issue! Between the M5 and this Jeep Im at 31 days while my car sits idle 30 minutes away. And this one isn’t even paid for.

Mine took 7 days from port to a New York dealership. Also, the phone number check in was more accurate than the on line tool.

Mine hit the port in NJ on 4/17 and was at the dealer in Edison the following day. My prior E90 also only took 1-2 days to a dealer in N. Jersey.

Sorry you have to wait....that is agonizing!
