That said, if you don't like Frozen at all, then this won't help. But I agree that with the 490 color code, it could be mislabeled. HOWEVER, when you ordered the car you should have been required to sign a printout of your order confirming that the dealer had set it up to your exact spec -- and you should have been given a copy of that document. Do you have it so you can prove that you did in fact order Brilliant White if you decide that that's still what you want? Otherwise, the dealer could try to keep your deposit even if you reorder on the grounds that you ordered an uncommon (and expensive) color and 6MT, both of which could make the car more difficult to sell. Of course the dealer might still have their copy of your order printout, which could help your case.
Well its confirmed to be frozen brilliant white.... it arrives tomorrow at the dealer and from reading this above makes me really think its matte..... I am just not a fan of the matte color and the flat look so i will most likely be turning this down

I do have the order sheet and it was alpine white but we changed it actually twice, i asked for brilliant white and the boob put in Frozen white then i frantically caught it and confirmed he changed it 5 times back in august.... looks like he didnt change anything...

i put the deposit on my amex, amex will snagglebag that sh!t from them quick and in a hurry so they wont keep the deposit - thats for sure...

what a mess, i once again really appreciate all the information and the help from you guys... i guess i will be riding the roller coaster over again, watching production, watching ships on my iphone every 10 mins, hounding the salesman for VPC release.... i guess the brightside is that i wont have an oil pump recall on my car fax when i go to sell it many years from now.... trying to look at glass half full when the sh!t is damn well been spilled..

I know it sounds silly, but there is nothing like a freshly waxed SHINY car.... Matte simply looks like someone stole it from the paint shop too early... god forbid i walk by the car with a microfiber cloth..... ridiculous.

OP, you are WAY over reacting! The frozen colors are very easy to handle and a micofiber is the easiest way to clean it, regardless of what BMWNA says!

Does anyone have any picture of what a paint chip looks like on a matte car?

Dudes,

I've seen Frozen Brilliant White in person when I was doing ED on Sept 1st. The combo is just SICK! I understand the OP's concern about wanting to have shiny car as I love shiny cars myself. But I do think that the following Frozen Colors are to die for:

-Frozen Brilliant White
-Frozen Alpine White
-Frozen Space Gray
-Frozen Silverstone II

Before I finally decided on Sapphire Black Metallic, it was a real toss up between Sakhir Orange, Monte Carlo Blue, Sapphire Black Metallic, and Frozen Silver. I also agree with others that Frozen colors are extremely easy to take care of, however if you get a deep scratch in the frozen paint, its all over. You basically have to get the entire panel redone.

If I were ever to own Frozen White, I'd have to tint the windows real dark to get the stormtrooper effect. LOL!

Same as on any other car. Chip/Scratch doesn't matter.
As you can't use touch up or polish out the only option to repaint the panel/area

On most cars they are eyesores which is why I have the full front end coated in paint protection film. I don't get chips. Worst case I have to replace the film under warranty.

The issue is RIDS (scratches caused by a small rock flying across the paint). With gloss paint these can be buffed out without issue.

The other thing is the ability to have a clearbra. I know you can get matte satin clearbras too - the question is do they match the clearcoat?

Here is someone who was able to find a clearbra for matte satin paint.

Correct. To some extent light scratches such as swirls are much less noticeable on frozen paints. Others will show up more prominent (such as stone chips as you'll see the filler and can't mask it with touch up paint).
I think the most annoying and dangerous part is all the folks touching the paint assuming it must feel "rough" and you'll see all of their (oily) finger marks on the car. Worst case they'll leave scratches with their rings / jewelry.

I'll give you this advice, OP. If you see it and fall in love with it, as you very well might, then I think you'll have a very hot car that will be far more distinctive than Brilliant White, which almost no one (even BMW enthusiasts) will realize is anything special. But if you don't absolutely positively fall in love with it, then refuse the order and place it again, because otherwise you'll kick yourself for the life of your ownership experience wishing you'd stuck it out another 2 months or so to get the car you wanted rather than taking something that you thought was "ok" or "just as good". If that's what happens, I definitely feel for you in terms of having to go through the agony of ordering and waiting again; I did it myself with my M3 (first BMW) and it was excruciating.

But hey, there's still the chance you'll go nuts for Frozen Brilliant White, or that against all odds the car will be painted (regular) Brilliant White.

Agreed.
If I were you, I won't take the Frozen White (after seeing the real thing), unless I'm 100% sure I like it more than the Brilliant White.

This will be my plan of action. If I don't fall in love with the car then its a no go... I may be able to deal with the silliness of the paint. I did see that video and its not susceptible to stains from bird crap and other elements. It's only really an issue with scratches/repairing the whole area and accidentally buffing it to where it would shine.

Lets see what happens today my friends. Another board member already wants to snag it if I don't want it so at least I can help make someone else happy if it won't work for me.

Crossing all my fingers and toes, now I just have to figure out how to put my shoes on like this

Good Luck Brad! Hope you fall in love with it. I have another 8-10 months till I can get my M5, but if was as close to delivery as you are I don't know what I would do... I LOVE the frozen colors. They are SOOOOOOOOOO sexy, I just don't know if I would want one my self. On the same note, I'm NOT saying I wouldn't want a frozen if I was in your case...
