Headlight Question

Hey guys. I keep my headlight knob on Automatic at all times. On occasion I'll notice my right cluster inner lamp turns on at night but my left one does not. Are there times when both lamps in each cluster should be on? If so, when and why can't I manually turn both on?

Try adjusting the illumination knob? It only works when the headlights come on.

I mean the inner headlight bulb. The outer headlights always illuminate, but the inner headlights seem to do as they please.

Sorry, thought you were talking about the cluster on the dash.

Those are the cornering lamps. They both come on when you put the car in reverse and the headlamps are on. Otherwise, they come on individually when you're going below 25 MPH and you use the turn signal or when you turn the steering wheel at low speed.

They illuminate the edges of the road in the direction you are turning.

Thanks for the info! That explains why I notice one come on and not the other while I turn into my garage.

what lights are the cornering lights? The inner of the the lights with corona rings is the high beam, isn't it?

The two inner most headlamps of the four are the cornering lamps. Not to be confused with the regular headlamps that can turn during cornering!
