Am I the only one with Ticking "Rotors" noises on slow speeds turning around

Here we go again
Noise came back and I took the technician for a spin with me in the car to hear it and he heard the TICKING "NORMAL" sound that the car produces on sharp turns mainly left in my car but can hear it on right sometimes too.

Especially when I took him to the circular area of a cul de sac and kept turning around for a few seconds to the left and it was freaking loud and his explanation:

M5 like the rest of M cars and M3/M4 have two parts rotors not one piece which should make the breaking probably fade less on the track but those PINS per his description can cause this type of noise and I should learn how to live with it!!

I had the car ZERO ticking sound for 1/2 year and was driving it the same way!!
And can't produce it on right turns as much and only after car is really warmed up and hot and I give him that because he predicted this before I tell him!! His name is Matt in Hendrick BMW Charlotte a very nice dealership probably best in whole city amongst all brands and the reason why I have been sticking to BMW for the last few years but heck car ain't right! !

I obviously told him that I never heard it in any other BMW M before or other brands and I doubt it is something that I can really live with and he said he will get the BMW engineer to come and talk to me about it and check it out himself

But seriously "Normal"?
I told him unacceptable!!

Any input will be appreciated -

Sooma... LOVE your passion and participation in this community. So please don't take offense...as none is meant. Just teasing...

Am I the only one who doesn't totally understand what the heck this means?

Yup, me too. First the dealer re packed the bearings with some "special" grease. That cured the ticking for a while until I did a track day and the ticking came back. This time they replaced the bearings and the ticking came back in less than a month!

Coming up on two years of ownership of my car and I've never heard this sound before. I guess I'm not rolling around with my windows down enough to notice?

Please roll windows down and drive it hard left and right while turning and report to us here as I personally believe this is nothing to live with !!

Mine started to tick for about two weeks, and I am embarrass to drive the car, it is very very loud..
Ordered a set of bearings, hopefully that's where its from. It only ticks underload, and I have tried to spin the wheels on the lift, it didn't tick or whatsoever...

I have this on my MY13 SO M5.

It's a rare occasion in the UK, let alone Scotland, when you can wind down the windows or open the sunroof, but I have recently been hearing pretty much what you have described.

The difference being that I interpret it as a ratcheting sound. The faster I corner the more frequent the 'tick' sound as you describe. It does literally only occur in left hand turns. I have noticed no adverse effects from this noise.

Indeed, this very morning, I power slided out of a roundabout, hitting the lockstops, and all the ticking in the world did not prevent me from unwinding into a graceful jettison from the so-called traffic control measure

Truth be told, it does bug me. But asked if I thought there was a detrimental aspect other than the annoying noise, I would have to answer in the negative.

Having once handed over my M3 CSL to the dealer due to diff issues and being told, they all do that sir, I am quite circumspect as to what I report as a fault.

If you perceive no handling issues with your 'ticking' noise, unless you have a stellar M-technician, which it seems you don't, I'd leave it alone.

Maybe it's a Sakhir Orange 'thing'...

My M6 ticks while turning (forwards and backwards) too. Best heard in a parking garage as you're making the loops. I have not had mine looked at.

As a non M5 owner I can also report to having the same issue on my F10.

But it only came after I recently upgraded to 550i front brakes. Not the slightest hint of ticking before with the std rotors and calipers. Now, with the significantly larger rotors (both diameter and thickness) the ticking noise came immediately...

To me this points to a rotor related issue since that is the only difference on my car (apart from calipers, but don't see that they should make a ticking noise).
