Whoa! Nice addition! What made you gravitate towards the M6 as a second car? Is it like having a sportier M5, or is it a different beast entirely?

I considered a few cars such as panny 4s, GTR and used F430.

Was looking for a 3rd car replacement for my c63 and M6 was perfect for me.definitely a different beast than M5.

The power of the S63tu is intoxicating, and in a 200lb lighter package with lower CoG - its a winner.

I think the seats are good. If they were fatter in appearance it wouldn't work well with the look of the interior. M6 is supposed to look and feel sporty. It's interior is less bulky and not as thick as the m5 which is a factor that adds to why the m6 drives and feels different and more sporty. They could have done comfort seats in the M6GC which would make sense since it's more of a passenger friendly car and so long/big.

I just traded in my M5 for this exact color scheme. Got the competition package though. Waiting for production to finish. Dealer says I should have my car last week of July.

My m5 is azurite black with full champagne.

Have you taken the m6 on a long drive yet? I'm wondering what difference if any is there.

I had a 2008 m5. Traded it in for a 2010 m6 and found the m6 to be more comfortable...

Oh man I just did the SAME thing! I bought an F12 M6 convertible for my wife to drive-lol! I end up with a LOT of seat time because EVEN AS A CONVERTIBLE it seems much more in tune with the road than my M5. I LOVE driving it. It is dropped on H&R and the lowered center of gravity makes it feel even more connected. I can literally sling it around corners and control it extremely well. MUCH more sporty feel overall. There is not one thing I would change. (OK maybe one thing-I agree on the look of that screen-gawdy!) Yes, the M5 seats are more comfy but I like the stiffer feel of the M6. I have been VERY tempted to swap mine out for the M6 coupe but I am going to try to hold off until the new 991 Turbo car comes out in December just to be sure. My wife keeps saying "we already have an M6" but she doesn't get it-lol!

And oh yeah, I love the steering wheel and paddle shifters Was going to go out today and order one to swap into my M5 but I think I better hold off on spending more $ on the M5. I just ordered diffusers and splitters-yikes!

Also I did speak to a connection over in Germany who commented that there are torque and hp difference in the M5 and M6 (especially the convertible) in the programming. Not sure if this is true or not but I definitely can tell you that there is more torque in the convertible M6 than my M5 when it was stock. With my tune and DPs and exhaust I have an edge but the M6 is very impressive. I know for sure that if I drive one that I will be in trouble.

Congrats Nick, you got a solid deal so why fuck not LOL.... we should run M6's first to see the variations there. Then you can crush me in your Switzer 5.

I did this a while back in January: got an M6 while owning an M5. The cars are different no doubt as all have stated. Maybe it was me but the M6 throttle seemed that much more response than the 5 and the turbo lag was less prevalent. It just felt like the quicker car ECU wise. The runs at 60 to 130 was where I notice it the most; hit the throttle and bang you are off versus the M5 which seemed to stutter for a quick second. Of course this is me trying to paint a picture here. As for the seats I like the M6 seats because of the adjustable bolsters. I am not of the buffet variant in structure and I found myself at time slightly drifting internally in the M5 LOL.

The 2013 M6 gets the old Nav which sucks but you get the LED lights and arguably the better steering wheels sans the paddle shifters.

Oddly enough BMW also makes comfort seats custom designed for the M6, but they aren fitted to US models because it was too costly to homologate them given the low sales volume of the M6. So the current M6 seats are basically 640i seats with bigger bolsters which eliminated the need for rehomologation. I can understand why the US regs would want to regulate seats because it is a key safety component. However I wish on parts like seats they could say - if it meets EU standards that is good enough - would open up a lot more goodies to us like adjustable bolsters and comfort seats on the M6.

BTW here is a pic of an M6 comrfot seats.

Unless I'm wrong, I think this is a pic of the STANDARD ISSUE non-USA M6 Sport Seat with the more attractive integrated-looking headlight. Whilst compared to the optional M Multifunction seats the standard issue Sport seats appears to have additional lateral support to the thigh and backrest areas (i.e. more prominent upper and lower side bolstering), they are NOT available with the ventilated/climate control feature. Also, the thighrest adjustment is manual vs electronic.

Furthermore, based on the language on Page 45 of 'The M6 Gran Coupe' official catalogue (see photo in my very next post), I think there's a fair chance that the backrest width/(upper bolster tightness) is manually adjustable (vs electronically on the M Multifunction F06/F12/F13 M6 seats).

Good eye there! I believe you are correct. My F12 has the second set (multi-function) pictured.

anyways enough complaining. congratulations!

Niko - how are things going with your Switzer tune?

Were you able to transfer your Switzer tune from the M5 to M6? Any sense on dealer detectability yet?

Congrats, nice car, I saw a wonderful blue one today at the dealership. I really don't know if I could own both an M5 and M6 at the same time but I guess I kind of get it - ballin as they would say!

+1. It's been concerningly quiet on the topic Nick. Makes me think there's an issue somewhere.

Guys ok things are going great with tune no issues thus far about 2k miles or so. Had my trusted BMW service department run a diagnostic scan on the car with switzer bypass switch installed and no errors were detected. Didn't want to share too much with them. The harness and piggyback is installed very stealth.

Have not moved it over to M6 yet.

Excellent. Glad to hear it's going well and no dealer issues. I didn't realize there was a bypass switch but that is a very cool feature so you can reduce stress on the engine for daily use. Is the bypass switch in the cockpit or the engine compartment?

Were you able to ascertain from your supplier whether the tune is portable?
