Tips for M School

Headed to the 2 day M School this weekend, wondering if those of you that have already attended had any tips or pointers? Also anybody else from the board attending?

Just thought there's probably something if you'd have known up front you would've appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Didn't know there were exercises that required being in the back seat. I thought it was one person per car...Disappointing prospect for those with weak stomachs.

Push as hard as the instructor will let you...may never drive your own car as hard but it's good to know some of its limits.

Feel difference with DSC off, and ask to use LC if possible.

Drink plenty of H2O, and if the tires aren't singing, you aren't pushing hard enough.

I just did the 1 Day M school today. It was a blast! Too bad they stopped doing the M5 Driving Experience as an included perk with the M5. So important to learn how to control all the horsepower.

This is key. Drive the cars hard. When they say stand on the brakes ... that's what you need to do. During one of the events today I was braking so hard my ass lifted out of the seat!

The PC has great instructors, and they'll tell you if you're overdriving the car. You want to be fast but smooth. One of the key things you'll hear is "looking where you want to go not where you're headed." Looking down track will help you make smooth movements through the exercises instead of darting movements from cone-to-cone.

This is also key. We had one guy today that had to stop halfway through the day and another that had to sit out a couple events. Even though you're in a car with the AC on you're still sweating. I think I drank 6 to 8 bottles of water over the course of the day.

And yes, the tires should be squealing a bit otherwise your not exploring the limits.

Thanks for all the words of wisdom, looking forward to pushing the limits... Their insurance, their cars, their tires, sounds perfect.

yes on the brakes use them when you need to not when you want to and stamp on them, also don't put the handbrake on when you come back into the pits.

Neil.

That was an unreal experience, had no idea what that car could do and a great refresher on the basics of car control from the instructors. Anybody who hasn't attended should definitely look into it.

Take your own dashcam. I listened to some veterans here who said the cars were wired up and they weren't - or at least most of them weren't.

Get plenty of sleep before hand.

stay relaxed don't over drive the car.

Try not to crash.

I am interested in this program. Should we start from drivers program or just directly try the M school?
