MPG HELP
Hi everyone, newbie here.
I own a BMW 320D M Sport F30 2013 Auto with 403m wheels on, the problem I am getting is, is that I only manage to get 38mpg urban whilst driving my best. Is this correct? I have just recently changed from RF to Standard Tyres and it is now showing 38mpg otherwise it was showing 32mpg before!. the car is upto date with its services and it is well looked after but I cant seem to figure out what could be causing it to give such a low mpg, considering people are getting 45+ in urban. I have attached some pics of my pride and joy thanks Sal |

Wait you were getting 32mpg, but after changing tires you're getting 38?

Yep, the tyres needed changing and they made the ride really harsh too, love standard tyres now. I am getting better mpg now after changing the tyres

Does your car have a sport option or something? Have you changed it to comfort or whatever? Maybe thats why others are getting better Econ

yeah it comes with the standard option Sport +, Sport, Comfort and ECO. I haven't changed it to Sport mode. this is running on standard Comfort mode. I have never been able to see it touch 40mpg. on the motorway I get 45mpg which is a shock too.

We've got the 8 speed auto - it doesn't get into top gear until at least 48 mph; anything below that gets poor mileage. And if you cruise faster than 65-70 you'll also start to drop due to wind resistance. |

One easy thing to check with diesel is ECT, check out the thermostat. You can do this running the oil and coolant temperatures via the hidden menu, while you drive your normal trips. See how quickly coolant warms up to ~90C and see if it stays there. |
