Now that the BMW Concept M5 has been shown to the public, BMW has basicly unwrapped their test fleet of M5s-- because we all know the final production shape and styling.

The benefit of that for us is that we get a preview of the M5 in a variety of colors, and so far we've gotten to see the car in Silver and White. Other popular colors such as Monte Carlo Blue have been shown off in the past, but unfortunately with heavy camouflage still on the car.

Here are a few pictures of the next generation M5 in Carbon Black. Although the wheels have been painted black, these look to be the production wheels (The beautiful 5-spoke ones shown with the BMW Concept M5 are said to be available as an option). US-spec orange reflectors are properly in their place on the sides of the front bumper, removing any doubt that this is a final production M5, the only thing missing at this point is the M5 logo on the back (which was on the back of the white test car we saw last week!

The most recent word has the Production M5 set to bow its head in public at the M Festival in June (in blue we hope!). BMW has been smartly holding back all the final technical specs, including the all so wanted horsepower figures, from the public until the final reveal of the car. What we do know is that it will be more powerful and at the same time more efficient then the outgoing E60 M5, thanks mainly to the introduction of the twin-turbo v8 to the F10 M5.

Doesn't look like the rear bumper has the dip like the concept model or any of the other testing model variation dips.

Also I guess the side-mirrors will make it to production

Middle section of rear diffuser is covered up. I think overall it looks good but I'm not liking the side vents and the wheel choices are crap. E60 M5 wheels were really good.

In terms of appeances, from concept m5 to production m5 so far, the whole saga is crap. Nothing special, worse looking than a regular f10.

It could just be wiring in the hose connected to a computer fed to the backseat....but thats a guess

The side vent still looks like a Kia. Everything else is lovely.

Does anyone else HATE these wheels? I am hoping they change them for the production model unless this is it, then we have to go rim shopping.

Is it safe to assume the wheels will come in black as standard? I haven't seen any color.

Looks good. Now don't drowse it in M5 badges and we're set. The weight is my issue, here.

Extra cooling for the turbos. There is a water tank in the trunk.

all in all I like it, I just think they need to get rid of the chrome window trim. Other than that, this car is shaping up to be a beauty.

I think that's a good thing. Kia's current line up beats the most of the BMW line up in terms of design.

Black M5 with black shadowline trim looks so much better IMO

A perfect evolution of the E39 M5, in my opinion the best looking M5.

Shadowline, the optional rims, carbon black - canīt go wrong with that.
