don't hold the brake, this is not an automatic with a torque converter. just mash the pedal and go. you will burn out.

I believe he's tiring to perform launch control. Am I correct? If so put items in sport plus, slightly apply break pressure, move shifter forward, you will see checkered flag, mash gas all the way down and get off the break, let shifter go and hold on. Hope this helps

I think you are rolling into the pedal too easy and slow. Take your foot off the brake and floor the pedal hard and fast. It will burn out in MDM. Just to make sure, have you had the 2500mile service yet?

OP is describing the lag that happens when you mash the throttle while holding the brake. You have to release the brake and the car will launch after a couple seconds. It is annoying, a simple redneck roasting of the tires is not straight forward.

The M5 has so much torque all you need to do is floor it while stopped in 1st gear.
Unless your trying to do a standing burnout? Then I don't know. This isn't like the E60 M5, unfortunately. More electronics on F10 and it's programmed to act differently. So you cannot mash the throttle to build the revs at a standstill.

I have tried to do a standing burnout several times with no luck. It seems as though even with Traction control completely off, the car will not allow any revs while any amount of brake is engaged. Please correct me if I am incorrect on this matter.

Same Result
I've been going to some of the drag strips in the area, and have experienced the same problem. The car will not do a 'standing' burnout. As some of the people noted above, if you turn traction control off and simply floor the throttle (with your foot off the brake) the car will certainly smoke the tires. However it may also lurch forward and/or fishtail, which is not okay while you're in the staging lanes at the strip. Too many people are in close proximity to the cars and if you're not able to rein it in, you could damage the car and hurt the spectators. If your foot so much as touches the brake pedal, the electronics shut down the throttle and you're limited to 1,000 rpm. This is highly unfortunate, because the real limiting factor for these cars when at the strip is traction, and a burnout just before your run makes the tires stickier. I've run under 12 seconds through the quarter (see an earlier post for a photo of the timeslip), and based on the trap speed (119.3 mph) the car could go even lower if the rear end would hook up when the turbos come whooshing in. As it is you have to either get lucky (like I did on the sub-12 second run) or feather the throttle through 1st gear. That's a non-repeatable process, and the amount of feathering you need varies from track to track and run to run. If I get tired of trying (or finally wear out the rear tires) I'll either 'up size' to 305mm rubber (which probably isn't worth much, since it's only a 3% improvement in tread width) or invest in a set of Hoosiers and matching wheels. The latter is a hassle due to the need to change the wheels (and store them when not in use), but I'd really like to know what this thing is capable of at the track, and the PSS's just aren't getting the job done. I'm hesitant to go with any aftermarket tune because I don't know that it will make a significant difference unless the traction problem is solved. Again, unfortunate, because like all of you, I love the thought of even more power. The other night a modded corvette (aftermarket supercharger and exhaust) pulled up next to me on the road and gave me the 'vroom vroom'. Wasn't he surprised when my gray 'family sedan' was able to stay neck and neck with him until we both let off. It would have been even more awesome to pull away...

It is possible to do a moderate burnout. You have to learn just how much brake you can apply without killing the throttle. I can manage a controlled burnout with just a slight amount of forward motion.

Just gun it, it will burn out. Feather the throttle and do a rolling burnout in a straight line to warm up the tires. You can keep the car straight with your right foot. Just how you can control a power slide with your right foot.

I too think this car does not have that standing burnout, however there is a similar burnout but car moves forward and I thing it's just DSC OFF and not Launch Control... For sure most of you have watched this video... look at 1:30 to see LC vs Burnout and also 1:45
