I had one but I am running a different tune now. Can't complain. I went 11.15@126 with the 93 octane tune, high flow cats and drag radials.

Not going to bash but they are terrible communication, hard to get ahold of and if your not happy we'll to bad basically. I dynoed mine recently. Car is perfect. Spark plugs oil and all maintaince done by BMW. I dynoed 587/608 with catless pipes and intakes. I'm going with DME tuning...

I have ESS tune along with OEM catless downpipes. Tune has been great but I haven't dynod. I'm guessing it doesn't make the power of some others. No DTMAL issues so that is good. I have never had one error code.

I got a smoking deal because my Indy is a ESS distributor. If I were to do it again I would go with BPM or DME just based on proven power. But I can't say anything bad about ESS.

Are they drilling holes into your ECU ?
I hear that is what ESS does. Not saying its bad, but I would not want holes drilled for various reasons.

I think any DME tuning company has to drill into them.

Not necessarily. I've seen more then a few opened and it is very hard to tell if it is done correctly.

I think any DME tuning company has to drill into them.
Actually, they can all be opened.
Many big name tuning companies for different vehicle brands open them up.
BMW is the 1st platform that I have seen a few companies drill holes in them.
Its easy to open them up without damaging tabs

In the beginning we had JB4 and non-CP m5's running around with too much boost for the fuel available (high trims, high AFR) so ESS was one of few tuners to do a backend flash where they adjusted AFR and disabled system that caused CEL when running catless dp's. They were also removing speed limiter. Now we have DME Tuning, BPM, Mission Performance, Enzo, GSR Technik, Eurocharged, ESS, etc that have since enhanced and perfected the tune for max power delivery in the safest way possable. They do more than adjust AFR...they adjust timing and boost. Some use 3.5 MAP sensors to go above and beyond 22 psi limit without havibg to use JB4.

I'm running the Stage 1+ tune. Nothing but positive things to say. On our Mustang Dyno on 91 octane, I baselined at 520whp / 475wtq. With full Armytrix and ESS Stage 1+, I made 615whp / 575wtq. For hot AZ and crappy 91 octane, I'd say that's solid. Never had a DTMAL or any other issues either.
