Brake Squeal: Possible Solution

I bedded in my pads at about 200 miles and things were fine for a while. Then the dreaded brake squeal started: just a bit at first but it got progressively worse until it was simply embarrassing. Thinking that maybe I had not bedded in the pads well, I bedded them in again (making sure to let the brakes cool well before parking the car) and the squeal went away - for a while. And then it was back!

Last night I went out and did a "mini bedding" of the pads consisting of just 5 hard braking "stops" (near ABS lock) from 65 to 35. Made sure the brakes had time to cool and - voila - the squeal is gona again.

All this makes me think the culprit is parking the car with the brakes hot. Even if you don't set the parking brake, the car does it anyway when it shuts down and goes into "P". I suspect that this is leaving small amounts of pad material on the discs which is resulting in the squealing. BTW, I have tried avoiding this by leaving the car in nuetral, but then big brother will not let me lock the car and just beeps twice every time I try.

So, I will now try to allow time for the brakes to cool before shutting down the car. I am hoping this is the solution. Of course, If I can address the squeal with a couple hard stops every time it comes back, I can live with that too. Wish me luck.

Does the M5 use the rear brakes as the parking brake instead of a dedicated single parking brake elsewhere on the rear axle?
