F10 M5 ESS_JB4 760ft-lb/719whp
Folks.
Some update on the car. Following mods: ESS S2 custom flash ESS Prototype Turbos BMS JB4 S2 - full CANBus access BMS Boost Control Module (BCM) for direct WG control AMS catted DP RPI Exhaust SSP 16-plate clutch MSR Intake / Charge Pipes Methanold Injection with BMS FSB Integration Dyno Conditions: Temp 89F Humidity 27% 93-Octane + Meth (49/51 - BoostJuice) Running larger wheels (315/30/20 R888's) Car continues to make progress. Started off with the ESS prototype turbos (still in development) and their custom flash. Removes speed limit, widens trim values etc. To this we added the S2 JB4 (with Canbus) and the BMS Boost Control Module (still new) for direct WG control - helps fine tune over the base flash maps. Did a few pulls this morning and the car put down a best of 760 ft-lb torque at the wheels and 719whp. There are some comparisons at N54Tech.com on comparisons to Terry's own car with stock turbos. http://www.n54tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32211 Few highlights from this particular setup: - Car has loads of torque all through the power-band (courtesy of the turbos) - Can keep 26-28psi throughout the power band - Clutches DON'T slip (SSP 16-disc version installed by Joe @ TrinityAutosport) - Boost displayed in the fuel guage (> 50% throttle) - Steering wheel access/control for maps Dyno: Video: Thanks to AJ from ESS and Terry from BMS for all their help and support. More to come.... not done yet until we hit that 1000 mark (crank) Last edited by allmotor_2000; 07-17-2015 at 05:02 PM.. |

Trying to figure out the power band - it should continue making power until 6.5K. We did some Vanos adjustments so should fix that issue shortly. It should (hopefully) reach 750 at the current boost levels.
Alternatively there is a choke point somewhere and peak power is achieved earlier and it's flat from there on out. I have older curves with these turbos that continued making power to 7K so just need to extract the same at higher boost and airflow levels. It's a process and takes time to optimize. so we will be addressing that. Down low at Max Torque (MBT), OEM timing may be too advanced for high boost levels. I am running about 4-5 degrees less timing than OEM in that 3-4K RPM band under WOT Last edited by allmotor_2000; 07-21-2015 at 11:01 AM.. |

This is pretty nuts. Flash tune combined with JB4 combined with bigger turbos? There should be a sale on clutches if you want to get this setup. Lol!
As always, glad to hear ESS leading the way.

Latest for now. Next step is another larger set of turbos...
One of the runs here is from last time as a reference. Last edited by allmotor_2000; 07-23-2015 at 03:55 PM.. |
