Exclamation F90 M5 prototype spied entering U.S. at LAX

BIMMERPOST

Got these from a friend at LAX (Los Angeles International Airport).

Fresh off the plane from Germany. I assume it's going to do some road tests and what not here.

Looks beefy.

Also see main F90 M5 details / spy pics / videos thread @ http://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1144727

Very cool! Thanks for sharing!

They're probably gonna go do heat testing in Death Valley.

Will BMW still make parts F10 M5 even after this new generation model gets released? (like the BMW-Akrapovic MPE or the F10 M5 Comp Pack suspension)

I ask that because usually, most product life cycles mean that once a new model is out, most support for old products are left to die (e.g. like what Microsoft does to legacy operating systems)

I think most automakers do that as well (?)...............except maybe for Porsche (which has extensive support for Classic models)

not sure how that looks beefy?

and yes, parts will still be available. just because a new model is out doesn't mean the old one falls off the face of the earth.

All car makers are legally required to support the old models for at least 15 years after production stops.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing! What is that round lens looking thing under the front plate? Would have been cool if they could have shot some interior pics. (Although it probably would have been mostly covered anyway)

It's not the production model so they may or may not be the actual calipers.

No clue. Could be a test apparatus or camera hole.

That exhaust looks huge - looks like a cross bank design with that huge thing in the middle

I don't know what a cross bank design is, but with all of that muffling capability between the exhaust outlets, perhaps BMW has eliminated the resonators? Would making the first restriction in the exhaust as far away from the engine as possible help power production? But the cats would still be in the same place, wouldn't they? Or maybe they've found a way to make their turbo motor sound better?

Most likely the hardware necessary for cruise control automatic braking/accelerating. Pre-production parts though, so it may or may not look like that for the production model. Have to keep that in mind for everything you see.

I am just hoping the interior won't have the floating nav screen as seen in previous pre-production photos.

Gotta agree with this one. Looks way more 'sleek' if anything than 'beefy' to me. Can't wait to see the final thing!
