Iphone Users Sleep cycle app
Tried this last night after a friend told me about it. I was very skeptical. I'm the type of person that hits the snooze button like 10 times before I wake up but this morning I got right up and wasn't tired at all. This thing works and you guys should try it. Only 99cents
"During the night you go from light sleep to deep sleep, occasionally entering into a dream state which is called REM-sleep. These are things that your normal alarm clock does not care about, and will go off at the set time regardless of whether you are in a light sleep phase or in the deepest sleep. However, since you move differently in bed during the different phases, the Sleep Cycle alarm clock is able to use the accelerometer in your iPhone to monitor your movement and determine which sleep phase you are in. Sleep Cycle then uses a 30 minute alarm window that ends at your set alarm time and wakes you in your lightest sleep phase. "This isn't really something new. These so called bio-alarm clocks have been around for years and work very well, but they usually come with a hefty $200 price tag. I realized that the iPhone has all the components needed, and decided to make an alarm clock that works exactly the same, but sell it for a dollar or two instead." here's the link: http://www.lexwarelabs.com/sleepcycle/howitworks.html |

Well, it's only a buck so I'm gonna buy it and give it a go.

Interesting. So does the "30 minute window" mean that it can wake you up 30 mins before or after your set alarm time based on your sleep?

So since I hit snooze 100 times, and I set my regular alarm to account for this, I should set the app to go off later than when my alarm would normally?
I downloaded it last week, but havent used it yet...I was a little skeptical, but I think I'll give it a go. |

I set my other alarm 10 mins after I sat the sleep cycle just in case, but honestly man the sleep cycle wakes me up near the set time and it feels like I have had 2 cups of coffee already.

I've been using it for about a week, and there's definitely an improvement in how tired I feel after I wake up. I forgot to set it last night though and I could barely get out of bed this morning, well worth the $1

So how does it work? You have to keep the phone in your pocket or something so it can sense movements?

How will this tell what state of sleep you're in? if you lie still for a while it assumes you're in a light sleep?
I think y'alls results are placebo affects.

I have used it well over a week now and I think a lot of the effects you guys are talking about may be just from the way it wakes you up. Soothing sounds that gradually get louder and a slight vibration.
The app is great in theory, but I don't find it works well in practice. Placebo effect sounds just about right. Although, seeing the graphs of when you had the most movement during the night is worth the 99 cents by itself IMO. That and it tells you how long you slept and average sleep (I am averaging under 5 hours... damn)

I ended up not being able to use the app (iPhone sorta smashed on concrete) but there is a similar app for Android users:
http://www.androlib.com/android.appl...larm-qBnA.aspx QR code for Android: It has similar ratings as the iPhone app.
