The F10 M5 concept was officially unveiled online today [official photos/video/info] to much excitement and anticipation. The F10 M5 represents the successor to the now fabled E60 M5, which began production in 2005 and ended last year. The F10 M5 concept's official press release photos reminded us much of the E60 M5 concept's debut photos. We've posted up some comparison photos below.

Not much technical info or specs have been released so far for the F10 M5, but what we do know is that the engine will be a high revving twinpower turbo V8 (albeit different from the X5/6 M), the transmission will include a 7-speed M DCT with M Drivelogic (manual transmission option status still unknown), and up to 25% fuel efficiency increase over the E60 M5.

By comparison, the E60 M5 was powered by a V10, 7-speed SMG or manual transmission.

While we think that the E60 M5 is still beautiful, the F10 M5 is clearly a more modern and fresher styled design.

Call me crazy but I like the E60 M5 better. The lines are less rigid and flow better.

Some think it's not agressive enough, but as you can see it's very similar to the E60 in that category. Aggressive but not over done. Thanks for the comparison.

The E60 still looks fantastic.

The new side gills are terrible. De-chrome that sh*t.

I've been waiting for this comparison. I guess the side grille tells it all. The lack of refinement in the new model is unbelievable. What's worse is that it extends everywhere on the exterior of the car. I've always been crazy about some of the details BMW puts in their cars, but in the newer models they are completely missing.

I like the F10 but I will always be a huge fan of the E60.

The F10 is too damn big.

Old M5 looks more aggressive and more performance oriented.
I think the new body is/looks way too bulky.

Plus the exhaust sounds like crap for the new gen compared to the V10.

Integrated side signal lights like the M3. Nice.

I like the F10 better, I just don't like the black wheels. The E60 is very ugly IMO.

I didn't realize they used normal e60 wing mirrors on the e60 m5 concept. Should mean that they will change the f10's wing mirrors come production model.

T

I expect that they will be like these sleeker mirrors spotted on the FEP M5 test mules.

the F10 looks gorgeous however the fenders look a lot wider on the e60 which imo give it more of that ///M look

Those look good. I'm sure they'll have similar black styling detail under the camo as the e60 m5 mirrors.

Rest assured the production F10 M5 will come with silver wheels from the factory.

depending on the price, i may bite the bullet on it over a gt-r. They are two vastly different cars, and the subtle look with a monster under the hood is growing on me.

now I'd have to worry about what color to choose, monte carlo blue or that chrome shadow color that the m5 concept is shown in.
