POTN has some amazing shots from this lens. I suppose I should use my 10-22mm more and see if it's even worth the $290 to try the Rokinon. It just seems like such a sharp lens.

Just curious, does anyone here have experience shooting the 70-200mm F2.8 version one in comparison to version 2?
I found someone selling the version 1 and am curious about it. would consider it and selling my F4 and possibly my 100mm macro to finance the purchase. |

For some reason, I had a higher hit rate of keeper photos with the version 1 of the 70-200 2.8 IS than the version 2. But it could be that my copy of the version 2 is on the lower end of the spectrum, but I haven't tested a second copy either. I also changed camera bodies too so that's another variable. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them; Both have superb IQ. Maybe I can find a few pictures taken with them if I can find my external hard drive amidst all my junk.

Compare lenses head to head
thought you folks might find this intertaining to play with it does multiple brands as well. you could also compare lenses against other brand lenses. can't say any of it is accurate, but could amuse some of you for a few hours. |

I know there are 2 extra pieces of glass in the newer version, which has advantages and disadvantages. I gather the II version is to be sharper and faster focusing, but i'm wondering if the original has better contrast and color because of less glass.

The II is better in all respects but more so at the 70mm end. Going by the MTF chart. I don't know about the focusing at all but the stop advantage of the II cannot be denied.
Dave, Need a kidney,liver,lung??? Three for the price of a 500 ;-)

So here's a few shots that I found using the version 2 shortly within the first few days I got the lens. The three pictures of dogs on page 13 of the "pets thread" were also taken with the version 2 I think. Nothing remarkable, but I hope they help a bit.

^ Dang, beautiful videos above...
Welcome to the journey! It's as money consuming as modding our cars...but at least photography lasts longer, holds greater value for longer, and brings more satisfaction, I think :P

Well I gave him a $15 discount, plus he had an Integra so gas probably wasn't an issue.

Who knows, maybe an excuse to drive. I volunteered to drive to Arizona (1500 mi rt) to deliver a cat.
Rodi, that guy definitely knows how to film, check out the others also.
