Wow, regardless of what the end time was, it's trap speed that tells you just how fast this car is. 122 mph is insane, that's just as fast, or faster than a Nissan GTR. Not bad for a good sized family sedan. Add some tuning and you are talking about numbers that are just unreal!!!

Latest M5
Having just sold my 08 M5, I am relieved that the factory was sandbagging us this whole time. I was convinced, once I saw how fast the X5Ms were, that there was no way the new M would be slower. I have been driving an F10 N55 for a few weeks and I am beginning to see what a better suspension, drivetrain and all the rest will only make the F10 M5 a car that will be hard to beat by its peers of the same size and power. I soon as I get to see one in person, I will place my order.

I would not believe a SINGLE thing that C&D, MT or R&T publish for performance figures... For staters, I worked for two of these mags for 12 years... They are KNOWN for over-inflating performance numbers to help sell the new brand of what ever is being tested that's new!!! They also test cars that are not always STOCK yet they publish the numbers as STOCK... ANDthey test cars in a areas known for (DA) density altitudes 1000+ feet BELOW sealevel (rare in 85% of the U.S.) which is like adding 50-70 hp to a car...... This new F10 M5 S65 was tested in air equal to (-1345 feet below sealevel) and ambient temps were 48*F... 90% of us MIGHT be lucky to get to 60 mph in this car in about 4.2/4.4 sec because of our location and DA, with sticky drag radials and very good driving skills... I've found from doing some private testing that infact BMW is about spot on with their numbers using a very good driver at the helm... Same for Mercedes and others... SO PLEASE do yourselves a favor and don't believe everything you read... That's one of many reasons this counbtry is so F'd up these days, DUMB citizens...

http://www.caranddriver.com/features...ng-for-weather Lastly -1000 ft density altitude should give a roughly 5% power change or about 30 hp in the case of the M5. It is nowhere close to 50-70 hp. Have a look at this quick calculator: http://wahiduddin.net/calc/calc_hp_dp.htm . Quote:

I must say that a lot of people on this thread are posting their emotions. So typical and for pure entertainment only. Very few are really, or could really answer the technical questions. More speculation and for more entertainment rather than informative information.
CD is one car mag. Let's hold off the celebration until the others report it. Besides, speed is to relative. Appears to be a fast M5 for sure, though. |

Just curious - Do you believe that other results from magazines/journalists will be drastically worse than these? Although I have no crystal ball for sure, I'd be willing to place a large bet that the other major mags report numbers that are right in the same general range.
