BIMMERPOST NEWSBMW F10 M5 Laps Hockenheim in Impressive 1:12.90 The BMW F10 M5 continues to impress, this time with its official Hockenheim lap time. It took BMW M's latest and greatest super sedan just 1:12.90 to lap the track. To put this into perspective, the M5 was faster than the E60 M5 (1:16.06), the 2009 Panamera Turbo (1:13.70), and the 2011 Mercedes CLS 63 AMG with Performance Package (1:13.90). The new M5 is the fastest BMW on the list behind only the BMW M3 GTS (1:12.50). The time was achieved at the hands of Horst von Saurma, the chief editor of the German automobile magazine sport auto. Sport Auto is known for their "super tests" which uses a "Hockenheim Short" configuration for their famous tests. Here is a list of the impressive company which the F10 M5 keeps with its Hockenheim laptime. Share this story |

That is some bloody fast company, but a Cayman R was the fastest of all, beating several 911's.

Simply amazing. Even faster than M3 CRT and CSL. I am impressed. That is a heavy four-dour five seats sedan! What a company...

Somehow I don't give this list much credibility.. The Audi R8 4.2 got the exact same time as the EXACT same time as the Audi R8 5.2?
Over 100hp difference, weight difference, potentially tire difference.. How is that possible? Even on a very curvy track the 5.2 should have scored better (or the 4.2 worse). |
