Drag Race Video: F10 M5 vs Panamera S vs E63 vs XFR

COMMENTS

EVO has gathered the brutes of the executive sedan category - the F10 M5, Porsche Panamera S, E63 AMG w/ performance package, and Jaguar XFR, and gathered them for a group test.

To whet our appetite for their full review, they've released a drag race clip featuring all four cars. For reference, the cars feature:

M5 - 560hp / 501 lb-ft tq (4.4L turbo V8)
Panamera S - 400hp / 369 ft-lbs tq (4.8L V8)
E63 AMG w/ performance package - 550hp / 590lbft (5.5L V8)
XFR - 510hp / 461 ft-lbs tq (5.0L V8)

Drag results in the video!

Not a very fair line up. They should have had a Panamera Turbo instead of just S. Porsche was the only NA car in the race. Other had forced induction.

The turbo is a massively different price range. The m5 easily wins this competition.

Very nice win by the M5 but let's remember the Porsche only lost because of its price and it was the only NA contender in this race.

A Panamera Turbo would have mowed this competition; a Turbo S would have slaughtered it.

Price point may have been the key here.

This is true but the interior quality of materials makes its competition look like civics (BMW included).

Does the M Drivers Package do anything in terms of performance or does it just allow the M5 to reach 190mph+?

No slaughter at all. I read a comparison between M5 and Panamera Turbo S and Porsche was only 0.01 seconds quicker than M5 to 200km/h.
So I wouldnt use the word slaughter.

I don't know; the Panamera is AWD... off the line it should leave those other three. I would still get the M5 solely on a excellent all together package including great looks.

M5 spanked them on the drag and track. What more can we ask for? Except for an option to remove the active sound. What if the owner wants an aftermarket exhaust? The cabin will sound the exact same!!

I dont think a Panamera Turbo would win. It has 55 less horsepower and weighs about 100 pounds more. And it has all wheel drive, which means understeer.

And as others said its stupid ugly.

So

Though the M5 was quickest, looks like the M5's acceleration figures in this test were not as good as in the C&D test. In the C&D test, the M5 ran the 1/4 mile in 12.0 @ 122 mph and hit 150 mph in 18.3 seconds.

I didn't read the whole article but if I'm reading the this chart right, it looks like the m5 would come from behind.
