Video: BMW M5 Mimics High Speed Bullet in Salt Flats

BMW took the 2013 F10 M5 onto the salt flats for a some high speed run, slowed for our eyes with a high speed slow motion camera (and some CGI), where it mimics a high speed bullet as it hits various targets. The promo mixes a bit of high art with the aggressive sounds and in-car footage from the M5.

The location reminded us of the popular and by now classic E39 M5 commercial which was shot on the Bonneville Salt Flats. See both videos below.

I personally love the slowmo videos, but adding the car to it was pretty amazing. The ballons are the best part to me, watching the water sit there as the car rolls by.

Best BMW video I've seen in a long time, reminds me of the old school videos they used to do with Clive Owen.

A combination of both, as is almost every commercial on TV.

E39 was way cooler, but visually the production of the F10 video was better. Just seemed a little odd..

The commercial is mimicking a bullet shot from a gun for "target practice." Aiming and hitting an apple, balloons (in this case referencing BMW M's colors) and finally an actual target - all of which I might add were obliterated. Very clever.

wow, seeing that E39 commercial... they don't make em like that anymore. Then again, BMW doesn't make fastest saloons in the world either.

E39 chassis is the ultimate M5 ever made as sedan w/ manual, it turns heads even it is almost 10-12 years old, aging w/ grace.

Wow that e39 commercial is amazing. I kept waiting to see when the M5 would turn up... At first I thought, out it'd pass the jet car, then I thought the jet car would shed it skin to reveal an M5. Then I saw the driver step out and I just thought... AMAZINGLY GOOD!!! AMAZINGLY CLEVER... BRAVO
