Just got an email from the ED Group at BMW.

We would like to invite you to an exclusive BMW M5 European Delivery launch event in Munich.

We’re proud to see that our customers recognize what an amazing experience it is to take delivery of a BMW M5 in Munich and have the opportunity to drive it on the Autobahn. As you may know, the all-new M5 has been in development for nearly five years before we placed it into the market.

We recognize your enthusiasm for the arrival of 5th Generation M5 Sedan and would like to invite you and a guest to an exclusive M-Studio visit on either September 4th or on September 12th. You will have the opportunity to meet some of the Engineers that helped to develop this awesome machine. There’s nothing like hearing the story of the new M5 straight from those who wrote the book on ultra-high performance sedans!

Agenda:

10:00 a.m. Arrival BMW M Studio in Garching
10:00-10:15 a.m. Welcome at BMW M GmbH by Management
10:15-12:00 a.m. Meet the Engineers / Question and Answer opportunity
12:00-12:45 p.m. Drive to a restaurant / Biergarten
12:45-14:00 p.m. Lunch at own expense
~14:00 p.m. End of event

Would love to attend, the question is, is it worth re-working the travel schedule or even changing the pick-up date (if possible) to do so?...

I would have loved to make this event too, but it's a day after I already leave. Looking at the schedule, I am not sure I can really justify changing all my travel plans to stay an extra half day for it. Wish they could have done something for the actual pick up D-day to have the M designers around.

What if we contact them and ask them to see if the engineers can be there Saturday

I know I got the email a little bit ago too! Crap Crap Crap! Now I might have to change my travel plans! Haha! I've gotta research if I can return back to Munich during the middle of my trip. This is definitely EPIC though. I don't think too many people get invited to the ///M Studio!

I would like to attend but this is not ideal being in the middle of the ED trip. I was going to leave Munich on the 1st and return on the 7th for the last 2 days.

I just don't understand why they can't do something on 8/31. There must be better turnout on 8/31 with 22 people taking delivery the next day.

I think they want the m5's there. They should have done it 9/3

Or they could have done it at 4pm on 9/1 followed by dinner.

I requested 8/31. However this is what they're offering. I won't be able to make it, but I hope many of you will.

Either way I have 2 guests so this isn't ideal for me. I will reply and ask if we can have a simple tour of the M Studio on Friday, without the big welcome and meet the engineers.

They should be rolling out the red carpet for us. This is a big event and launch.

But that doesn't seem to be the case. Look at the agenda. 15 minute intro, 1h45mins with engineers. Then group lunch on our own.

If I was them, I would try and make Saturday more of an event. Group Welcome, Group Car deliveries - perhaps they rearrange the schedule a bit, and deliver some of our cars in the cone. Then convoy to Garsching for M Studio. And call up their friends at NBC and their enemies at Car and Driver to cover it. The last NBC documentary was why I did my last ED.
