So who here is going to run winters on stock 20's?
1.) Obviously a 19" setup is preferred, but is it bad to run 20's in winter? Are you really losing that much? 2.) What setup did you run on OEM 20s? I prefer a square setup, so what would be optimal tire size given the stock staggered setup? I am definitely getting aftermkt 20's, so I will immediately rip off the stock PSS's to put on those. Since its only $1300 option and the 20" PSS's would cost $1800, no brainer it seems. As long as people think 20's in winter will be ok (not a daily driver) EDIT - sorry just saw this one. Are people going with this? Question 1 is still valid. Looks like Tire Rack recs 255/35/20 Couple options in that size. Blizzak, Dunlop, Pirelli. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...5&autoModClar=

Bad news....they dont fit. From the looks of it, the wheel needs an inner barrel diameter of probably a hair over 18" to clear the brakes.
The CCW guys have been great in their after sales support and are willing to take the rims back. I spoke to the dealer and the 408M rims are backordrered too (and they are over $900 per rim!) so I am going to continue my search for a new aftermarket set. |

Oh No ! You are in the same position as me.
I ordered my wheels (19" 345M) from Maranello BMW here in Ontario and there is no backordered for this style. I paid $2600 for a set of 4 (no tires) + 13% taxes . The Parts guy, Mike, says he can ship the wheels from his dealership to wherever, of course + shipping charges. Better be quick in your search for the elusive 19", winter arrives in Alberta in about 3 weeks time or so. Quote:

Where did you get that price from!! I called 6 places and the highest I was quoted was $670 per wheel. Paid $540.

In Canada, we get charged a price premium on parts of at least 20-30% more than the US. That's the way it is here !
Even after having discounted by my local bmw dealer for the wheels I bought, I still ended up paying about $400 more than what I was quoted if I bought from US. |

It's still an OEM BMW product, no matter where you purchase it or what you pay. I'd be shocked if your dealer tried to claim breach of warranty because you wanted to save a couple bucks and didn't pay their exorbitant prices.

The unfortunate part is that the tire and wheel warranty available here is sold by BMW Financial Servics Canada. It has a specific clause that if the product isnt bought from an authorized reseller an Canada, the warranty doesnt apply. If Im going with aftermarket, Ill probably just suck that up, but, if Im getting OEM anyways....
Its not even really the dealers fault. They get absolutely owned by BMW Canada. Ive seen indications of some of their costs and on some things their cost from BMW Canada is higher than US retail. Im still hoping to find an aftermarket alternative. Ill keep you guys posted if I come up with anything. |

What size are the fronts? They only make a 245 for the front, correct? Does that fit on a 343 front?

Finally ordered my winter setup. Happened to be the same day I sold my old M3 winter setup! :thump:
I went with: BMW OEM type 408M 19x9 (ET 25 rear, ET 32 front) Pirelli Sottozero 240 serie II 255/40/19 TPMS I was really disappointed with the lack of aftermarket 19' wheel options for the F10M5!!!!!!!! Also disappointed with the lack of 20" winter tires for the stock wheels!! Oh well.

One last update from me on my stock 345M wheels chosen for winter use.
I purchased square setup with 19*9 et 32 and TODAY, I have them put on with winter tires mounted on them already. Guess what, the front cleared but not the back ... the shop owner came out and told me the bad news and to my disbelief this whole damn winter wheel nightmare is happening all over again. The back caliper was barely touching the inner barrel wheel as he rotates the wheels. I asked for solution and he proposed to shave off/machine grinding off about 2-3mm of caliper and repaint the affected area. After about 1/2 hr of work done on both side, the rear wheel finally cleared. Therefore, the lesson of the day is ..... if anyone is buying the stock 19" 345M wheel. You will need to buy: Front: 19 * 9 36112284250 Rear: 19 * 10 36112284251 No exception ... unless you want to go thru I just went thru. |

Could you have used a 5mm spacer instead?
