BIMMERPOST NEWSBMW M5 (F10) Akrapovic Exhaust Tech Specs and Videos [Exterior and Interior] Akrapovic has released a feature video showcasing their evolution exhaust system for the F10 M5. The exhaust manufacturer claims a +10hp, +17Nm (12.5 lb-ft) torque gain, and 12kg (26 pounds) weight saving over the factory exhaust. The system is claimed to lower the back pressure and gives the M5 more power and torque through the whole range of RPMs while increasing responsiveness. Gains are achieved without removing the catalytic converters. The new Evolution exhaust system consists of newly developed dual-outlet mufflers with exhaust valves, flow-optimized pipes, and a cast titanium X-shaped part with resonators. The X-pipe, valves, and flange assembly are produced in the company's foundry. The system is available with either titanium or the carbon fiber exhaust tips seen in the video. That Akrapovic completely transforms the F10 M5. Not only it has an almost "Pagani level" of attention to detail and finish, more importantly, makes the beast sound as it should from the factory.
It also makes the fake sound controversy a mute issue since that wonderful noise will overcome any stupidity that BMW decided to play over the speakers. |

Not loud enough and way overpriced.
Many vendors are charging something around $8,000USD for this system. Who does Akropovic they think they are, Kreissieg? I want no cats and no resonators for half the price with at least a 25hp and 20tq gain over stock. So far no company has produced an exhaust system with these attributes, but it is completely possible. The American tuners haven't had a shot yet, let's see what companies like Dinan and Race Precision Inc can do. ![]() |

B/c Akra does produce exhausts at the highest level of quality.

No arguments there. The Akra system is hands down one of the most highest quality built and aesthetically pleasing exhausts made in the world.
I'm just pointing out that having an exhaust made out of nice looking titanium matters little to some customers who want more sound, performance, and power. Paying $8 grand for an exhaust I would want more bang for my buck, rather than just high build quality and nice looks. You can't even see the beautiful titanium underneath the car anyways. The only thing that I really love about the Akra F10 M5 system are the exhaust tips, I wish more aftermarket exhaust makers would make better looking tips for the ///M models like Akra, or like the Lambo, Ferrari exhaust tips. |

I was contemplating on having the Akrapovic Titanium Exhaust System when I get my 2013 M5 to the States but am having second thoughts as it might void the warranty of the car. Does anybody have any thoughts on this?

The Akrapovic system does not bypass any catalytic converters and BMW even uses Akrapovic for some factory exhaust (GT4). The only warranty they can void is the exhaust system section.

I looooove the Akra on my E90. Can't wait to hear / see it in person on the M5.

Looks and sounds nice, but $8K for an exhaust that only produces 10 extra Hp? Ouch...

complete waste of money for a metal piece that produces no significant power. that power gain is almost margin of error between dyno runs. it will sit underneath the car where nobody will see it. not sure why people obsess over high quality exhaust so much. pretty welds for $8k? stock is high quality OEM piece and 12kg of savings is honestly 3 grocery bags.
did i mentioned overpriced?

that's still very low gains for an exhaust from akrapovic. they did wonders for the e9x m3 but the price tag is not worth it when there will be much better systems offered soon down the road
