Speaker noise - crackling sound

I noticed a crackling sound from the speakers at all volume levels today. First time I've heard it. Whether it is XM or my iPod - you can hear it during play or adjusting the volume. Anyone else? I do not have the B&O option.

I have the same issue. It is random and stops after you restart the car. I notice it more if I adjust the volume and usually only see it when I have the drivetrain in sport or sport plus mode. Makes me think it is something to do with the artificial engine sound, but really can't confirm .

Also my nav / idrive reboots randomly. At least when it does this i get to see the cool M video.

I've been telling my passengers it is getting updates. Not sure if it is true but at least they wont comment "my Taurus doesnt do that"

Yes, the crackling sound did go away once I restarted. I haven't heard it for a couple days.

I had it too. Was not there upon delivery then got it going into sport/plus as well. Went away after restart and from what I can remember came back after sport/plus driving. Going to monitor this thread, and have it addressed upon re-delivery. Wondering if only a subset of the cars have this issue?

Ive had the same issue. But i switched from using aux port to usb port . It seemed to solve the problem . Im guessing you just have to play with the volume on the phone if using auxilary. I didnt have to do a restart.

Hope this somewhat helps

For the guys reporting the problem - were your cars with B&O or without?

Without B&O. Happened once and it did it ever time I adjusted the volume. All sources. Restarted the car later and it hasn't done it since.

Anyone still have this issue or an update on a fix if it continued? My car is almost here, should be reunited in the next 10 days (fingers crossed).

Mine did it again the other day. So that is twice in the 6 weeks I have had it. Going to be impossible to replicate for the dealer, unless it gets worse though.

i had experienced the crackling sound right after taking delivery of the car and from what I remember - it was when I was using the Aux port. I have the B&O sound option. But after parking and re-starting the car later, it went away. I haven't experienced it again yet but then again - the car hasn't seen much road time during the stop-drive order for the oil pump. Now that it's fixed...I'll be driving it more.

Still get this randomly regardless of what is plugged in, blue toothed, car settings etc. I can't seem to recreate it but shutting the car off and on always seems to fix it.

Fellas, this has happened to me a few more times since my original post. I took my car in for the 1200 mile service and had them log it. As expected, they weren't able to replicate it while they had the car.

They finished up the service, I go pickup the car and as I'm driving home I get a phone call through the bluetooth, answer it and the crackling started again. Finished the call, crackling was still there with all inputs. Flipped a u turn and drove straight back to the dealer. Left the car running and had the technician come out and listen. Finally, he was able to hear what I had been describing and agreed it was a legit issue.

They asked me to setup another appt and drop the car so they can hook it back up and run diagnostics again. He's not expecting anything to show up, so the plan will be for him to complete the appropriate paper work and they're going to start out by replacing the amplifier, see if that corrects it.

I'll let you guys know what happens.

I had that sound start yesterday (700 miles) as well like a little tick as though a small battery is taping on the speaker wires. I do not have B & O and I have a manual tranny. Please keep the post coming as I will need to talk this over with my dealership.
