Finally, a good look at Silverstone II!

Steering vibration - bummer. Do you owners agree it's that bad? I've seen a couple of comments, but not a lot of discussion.

This dude's assessment of SMG is retarded, so he's not brimming with credibility.

Odd. He probably just hit a bad patch of blacktop. I put 1900 miles on my car in germany and the only vibration i felt was lane departure ki,king in from time to time.

Is he being serious about the car being to actually read speed limit signs via the camera and not GPS? That is amazing if true, I have had my car for only about 4 hours, makes me want to go test that out.

The vibration is indeed there, but goes away after 2 to 3 thousand kilometers. I don't notice it anymore, but was quite disturbed by it initially.

Tire break in? Weird. Good to know it has gone away

It is true and it is amazing. I think it may have GPS "hinting," but it even picks up temporary speed signs and the "dynamic speed limits" in Germany that change for traffic conditions.

The really wild thing is that it also seems smart about signs that say "100 kph if raining" (car relied on rain sensor to pick the right speed limit) and time of day based speeds "120 kph between 2200 and 0600."

It clearly uses some GPS hinting, because when the sign says "end 60 kph zone" it knows to revert to the country-specific concept of "unlimited."

It has to be true. It was so damn accurate in Europe I couldn't believe it. Even in random small construction zones. I couldn't figure out how they did it. Now I know.

The Driver Assistance Package ($1900) has the 'speed limit info' feature that reads speed limit signs with a camera. The speed limit is then displayed in the dash as well as the head up display (if equipped).

I noticed vibration at above 100 km/hr. But not too bad. I think after the tires gets worn, it would be better.

I had similar problem with E60. After i replaced the stock conti with pilots. It would vibrate at highway speed. After couple hundred miles, it went away.

One of those radar systems (lane departure, blind spot detection, forward collision) will send your V1 into a seizure. After stepping in that with our 550i, I would rather have the V1 looking out for cops than the detection systems looking at my blindspot.

In four days of driving I did not notice any steering wheel vibration.

SMG wasn't total crap, it was pretty amazing in its day.

The S63Tu does have twin scroll turbos.

See the engine details at http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=548345

We were amazed by how accurate this was as well. Driving through a lot of construction zone on the autobahn, the heads up display corrected for the correct (or in many fun cases no ) speed limit within 2 seconds usually.

Haven't seen this work in the US yet, but it displayed the nice little symbols from the EU signs with the red circle or white circle with squiggly lines. Wondering how this will display in the US.

In terms of the vibration on the steering wheel, the only one I noticed was with the lane departure warning from the Driver Assistance Package. At first I didn't realize what this was and immediately turned it off once I figured it out. I later turned it back on once I got used to it. I personally do not use turning signals when changing lanes (if no one is around), but since Europeans are great at actually using and following driver etiquette, the vibration was a good reminder to actually use the signals because it does not vibrate when you use your signal to change lanes.

That is good to know. I have to say that I find the steering wheel vibration to be very noticeable after 300 miles. It's certainly something I would change on the car if I could. Here's hoping the vibration disappears on my car as well.
