Updated Rear Entertainment Screen?

I'm considering the Rear-seat Entertainment Professional option (6FH) for my 2014 order. Below is a picture from the 2014 5 Series LCI. I'm assuming the M5 will have the same, updated appearance? It looks much nicer (imo) than the previous version.

You can play DVDs off the disc changer in the car. One disc can be shown on both screens or you can opt to play back another disc in the rear player on one screen. This definitely looks way better than the current version and a lot less bulky!

I wouldn't get it. I always get my cars fully optioned unless there's a reason not too. Haven't found too many of these reasons besides:

- E60 M5: didn't get heated steering wheel because the leather type is different and rougher. non heated means a soft leather wheel.

- F10 M5: didn't get the rear seat entertainment. just looks out of place in the car. looks better on the 2014 but I still think a screen doesn't belong there.

If you have a kid just hand them an iPad.

I took most of the options when I bought my M5 but skipped the rear entertainment center (and 20-inch wheel). At the moment, I just use IPADs, Android Devices and smart phones to stream videos to them via a laptop in the trunk. This way, the devices are quite movable and does not stay in the car -- they can be handheld or with their protective leather folder, one flap can be inserted in the front seats' backpacket to hold the units. As for privately listening to the sound, I have wireless bluetooth headphones. Wired headphones could also be used. Friends who have tried my system are quite amazed how cost effective such a setup was compared to what you pay when you buy the rear entertainment center. At the moment, I just do Video On Demand streaming and still have to explore multicasting. Also am exploring ways to use the M5's builtin WiFi hotspot. Digital copies of movies are readily available, some for free or if one is enterprising enough could reencoded them to be easily streamable and if I am not mistaken, still conforms to the DMCA's DMA licensing as one is entitled to a backup copy of one's DVD/BluRay movie collection.

Thanks for the input, but does anyone know if the M5 will also receive the update?

Wow, I never knew that!

I also would opt for an iPad or Android like device.

Those screens do look better and I suppose it would be nice for the back passengers to have a map of the navigation screen to see where you are just like on an airliner. But I suppose if you had a 3G enabled iPad you would have the same thing.
