I wanted to ask you about the service after 2000 km

What do they do to the car?
what does it included

Engine oil and filter, differential oil, and transmission oil (if 6MT) is changed; DCT transmission oil is "lifetime". I think that's it but I'm not sure. Also, make sure your SA knows NOT to use 10W-60 oil in this car. This is the first M car where that's not used, so a tech who isn't careful might mess that up, like those who put 6MT oil into DCT M3s when they first came out. The correct oil is 0W-30.

That's exactly what they do. They also have a campaign to replace the bushes on the rear sway bars. Some of them are apparently on the wrong way round.

Post December there will be a campaign to replace the rear coil swings to fix the infamous thump in the rear over bumps.

How much does the first service cost (if I'm taking it to another dealer) , and how long does it take to get it done?

yeah it should, but i'm thinking of pick my car and go to another city. where my dealer would be to far.

so ill take it to another BMW dealer, do u think they will still do it for free

Here in the States, BMW North America pays for all service for the first 4 years of ownership up to 50,000 miles. All regular maintenance including oil changes is covered. Also to be noted, if you are under mileage at yearly anniversary you are entitled to service anyway. The only thing you need to purchase are tires. I think if you track the car and are coming in with unusual brake wear, they will get you on that.

Not nearly the first. M cars never used to run 10W-60 till the E39 with the S62.
The X5M and x6M also dont use 10W-60 in their S63

The F10 M5 S63 is approved to use all BMW LL-01 approved oils, which is 5W-30 at most BMW dealerships around the world.
In mainland Europe BMW LL-04 oils are approved where the correct fuel types are found. many of these are 0W-30 or 5W-30

I think I paid 94 euros without VAT for my first service. Being overseas we get hammered on services as they are not free.

today had my 2000km after break in service - Canadian M5 car

Done -
oil & filter change to 5w30
Differential fluid change
general inspection of suspension (visual quick check)
software update to reprogram to remove PDI mode

That's all. No secondary & additional break in service anymore until 20,000km

Note: The shop foreman also points out our M5 engine will consume about 0.7 litre of oil for every 1000km (at least till about 10,000km) and BMW Germany considers this kind of oil consumption to be absolutely tolerable. I thought I had an issue with excess oil consumption during the break in period but the shop foreman suggests no need to raise any alarm unless I see 'blue' smoke ....

I spoke to my service advisor and he "learned" that there is only one 1200 mile service. Now I need to bring my car back in for the software update.....

are you talking about the power being unlimited before the 1200 mile service? i thought this was discussed and we found out that no such thing as limiting the power is done?

The dealership shop foreman told me at the factory, pdi mode was programmed to protect the engine while on its first 2000km. I really don't know anymore if this means power band was cut back or not because I never drove faster than 130km/hr or 80miles/hr and never hit 3500rpm. I actually felt like I was driving a 528 most of the time during the break in period.

Now, I can start to enjoy from today onwards ....
