Optimum Settings for Town Driving - M5POST

I'm currently using D1 and S2 for my daily commute - the morning run is slow on average, ie average 20 mph!!

S2 is perfect when I'm in the mood for some spirited driving, especially on the way home when the roads are clear. At all other times in the commute I'm using D1, but have noticed that in the low gears it sort of slurs sometimes from one gear up to the next (especially from 2nd to 3rd) - ie it's not a nice quick change. Is this going to cause any clutch wear or is such wear unheard of on a dual clutch? Should I default to D2 instead?

How about warming the car up? Should I stick to S2 for this or D1 or D2?

I'm interested in what transmission settings other owners are using for painfully slow commutes.

P.s. the fuel consumption is remarkably good on this car (avg 17.2 mpg) considering the slow bumper to bumper grind in the morning (lasting average of 1 hr or more) and the fact that I always disable Start/Stop.

Ive been doing efficient/comfort/comfort/D1, but thinking of giving D2 a whirl.

Tyler/Rob - What kind of driving are you doing to get 11.5 mpg? Just commuting? Even my e60 M5 managed 12mpg for my commute!

Cidair/Spot/M54 - Think I'll have a go with D2 tomorrow. Probably warm up with S2, so I don't take revs too high for 1st 20 minutes or so, then switch to D2.

Took the neubeast out for some errands this afternoon. I really like D1 and it is not bad for starting up and just cruising around. I did, after looking at the M1/M2 thread, make some changes to my M1 button which is now my "power cruise" mode:

Sport Plus engine/Sport Steering/Comfort suspension/D2, DSC, standard HUD.

+1 D1 (eff/comf/comf) for rush hour traffic

D2 / S2 (sport/comf/sport) for non rush hour traffic

D2 / S2 (eff/comf/sportplus) for freeway cruising

D3 / S3 (sport/sport/sportplus) for showing others ... "Don't even think of messing with me"

Lucky you. I get 11.5 in my X3 35i here in Chicago. And my tank is smaller.
