Just wondering thou... unless oem filters are made out of brick. How is a different airbox design with bigger volume helps with more power on a force induction setup when turbine and inlet/outlet to engine hasn't change.
For the same cost, I would think a down pipe to exit exhaust faster would be more efficient at getting more power out of the F10 M5. But the cf looks great nevertheless. Congrats and enjoy!

It's good for those M5 owners who love to pop their hood everywhere they go.
I've heard chinese knock-off company is about to start production on them...lol |

Very nice! Look forward to more updates. I don't think current F10 M5 owners car about the cost. It's about the aesthetics under the hood.

The price for this should be 400-500. It's just two filters ands some small CF pieces. They're charging that much cause you drive a new BMW M5.

That is one of the premises that the aftermarket sector uses to set their prices, the supposed wealth of prestige car owners. I wish I were one of them, but I'm having to struggle to put this M5 into my garage. I bought my first BMW in 1969, a 2002 model which cost $3,600 brand new!! Just slightly more than the intake from GruppeM with some bits of carbon fiber and two K&N filters....... Makes us older types a little less tolerant of the prices these aftermarket companies foist on us. It seems they think we're stupid as well. If you value the looks of your engine bay enough to spend thousands of dollars with no appreciable gain in horsepower, who am I to say no? If I had the extra money with no better use for it, I'd do the same, it is a good looking system.

There's no gains to be had on a turbo charged car (or any car for that matter) with a well-designed airbox. Considering the M5 comes with TWO airboxes that already move WAAAAAY more air then needed, the claims this intake is making is ridiculous. It's evident in the way the advertisement/thread is worded. Cheesy wording. These guys tested something similar: |

Consumers should definitely do their research when buying a part but ultimately what aspects the customer is really looking for (i.e. looks or sound increase over appreciable power gains) will come in to play. On a side note, several owners have noted an increase in throttle response and of course intake noise. The reduction or elimination of baffles and such in the stock air box maybe played a role in this? Last edited by star21; 11-27-2012 at 12:33 AM. |

Looks like 12WHP & 8WTQ from Gruppe M Intake @ 1:18 into the video.

Looks great but i dont pop my hood when I go hang out somewhere so it's not a mod I would consider. Im going with the BMC filters and maybe someone one day will produce airscoops behind the grill or something of the sort, similar to what RPI did for the E60/E92 systems. Thats about as far as I would take this. I do get it though. Looks great and Im sure it sounds cool too.
