Post Absolute Power M5 article - "if you see a bmw on the street... don't mess with it"

Anybody see the article "Absolute Power" by ezra dyer in june 2013 automobile mag, basically discussing the ridiculous (yea right) horsepower race, and the subject is an f10 m5 and his dyno results along with a summary of how bmw rates horsepower..

Long story short he's claiming 660hp out of f10 m5 and saying "if you see a bmw on the street... don't mess with it"

how has everybody's dyno numbers come in?

Yes I read it. It's an interesting article. Here's a copy for those who haven't read it.

...Corrupts Absolutely.

I thought this was going to be a history lesson on John Dalhberg. Lol!

I'm doing another dyno next week, but last dyno I did I made 549whp and 512wtq and all I had at the was a charcoal filter delete and the RPi GTM exhaust.

660hp is a little outrageous, but after calculating for drive train losses on two different dynos I did, we calculated I should be making somewhere between 622 and 644hp to the crank.

But, yeah people should not mess with an F-Series ///M car, including the new upcoming M3/M4, our torque is no joke. However, being a skilled driver and managing all that torque and horsepower from a RWD car is another matter entirely.

My guess is that they used a press/media M6 when they did the dyno for that article.

I understand that the press versions of the M6 have 620hp (from a reliable source)

So do the European Delivery versions of the US M5 from another reliable source.

Damn. I had already tossed that issue of Automobile magazine in the recycling. Thought I read all the good stuff!

Nice article. I have to say I have had a blast embarrassing everything on the road I can get to take the bait. Great fun!!

Need to use a proper browser not the app, and need to have enough posts to be able to view linked files.

If true, and I won't doubt Stealth until proven wrong, this is indeed very disappointing news for those who bought their cars here.

My guess is its probably true of the US cars too, but my source only has data for ED cars by coincidence.

I want to run a stock 13 GT-500. Really bad. No filter, no exhaust, no pulley, just as Ford shipped it.

That's interesting. I dynoed my e63 m6 right after a f13 m6. I had 465whp (cat back and tune) the f13 turned in only 505 whp stock with 2k mi

think you'll be doing downpipes?

i hear they really improve the throttle response. and free up a good bit of power too.

sometimes even now after my tune, when turning left i find it leaves me a little flat footed with the throttle lag. pissed a couple people off already.
