Why RS6 is faster than M5

The new RS6 has been released. Twin Turbo V8 4.0 liters engines, will produce 560hp and 700N.M. 0-100km/h in 3.9 sec(WTF) 8 speed gearbox, only 9.8L/100km(WtF???)

I wondering the HP and Torque on both car are almost same, why Audi makes it much faster than M5.

First of all, the RS6 has Not been released yet.

Second, the fastest recorded M5 0-60 time was 3.78 seconds. So no the RS6 is NOT faster.

(If you really want to compare 0-60 time, tell me why the Nissan GTR with 530hp does 0-60 in 2.7?)

Rarely if ever has the RS6 been faster overall than the M5. Not sure why that would have changed now. But even if it has who cares ? If you are concerned go and buy an RS6 .....

The reality is the RS6 will most likely be a quicker car then the M5. The RS6 will have an Audi claimed 570+ hp. Given that actually real world dyno's are showing the S8 actually has 575 hp's the RS6 will have 600+ hp.

The advantage will be AWD! M cars need to face reality that 500+ hp cars need AWD. Since AMG is offering the E63 in 4matic for 2014 I would guess M will need to do AWD to stay competitive. It's just a fact of traction.

Audi announced 2014 RS6 to officially have 552 hp. However, my assumptions above I still assert are correct on it being quicker then M5.

You see, it's not about the speed, its about the handling, cornering and the M Brand that is so fascinating.

What is an RS(anything)? It's a knock off, that's what it is..

All wheel drive would be nice but although Audi has been doing better they are have always been garbage until about 2 years ago in my opinion and they have nothing on the legacy of the M... Hence the grandmother statement...

The anwser is simple... THE Audi has four wheel drive the BMW is rear wheel drive. I am not biased but I would take the M5 over the RS6 anyday. It seperates the men from the children + its more fun in the track

put it this way. even if RS6 goes to 100km/h a little quicker, handles a little better with AWD, costs a little less, I'd still go for M5, as I just can't stand the big front grill of the Audi.

Power output dates m5 vs rs6

m5 560hp from 5750-7000rpm, rs6 560hp from 5700-6700
m5 680nm from 1500-5750rpm, rs6 700nm from 1750-5500

the m5 has a wider power band than the rs6 on max hp and max torque output.
rs6 has 20nm more of torque (probably not mesurable)

Despite of Audi saying the new rs6 will be 220 pounds later than hes pescedor we will probably see fully equiped rs6 avant around 2,1 tonnes
(Weighted new S6 was around 2100kg as well, and audi claimes it lighter than the old s6)

So we will see at least 100kg / 220 pound between m5 and rs6 (rs6 heavier)

it could be likely that the rs6 is quicker 0-62 than the m5 due to his all whele drive, but above those speeds i bet for the m5

an unknown parametre is the gear ratio, audi 8 gears vs m5 7 gear..

Also, the vast majority of people on the M5 post site dont own the F10 M5. Thats why you get stupid threrads.

Call me crazy but I like that RS6 Avant a lot. If I wanted a wagon, that would be my choice. Debadged, blacked out, very stealthy. No one would know what it is or its capabilities. I'm a fan. That being said, i wouldnt choose an RS6 sedan over my M5 sedan but that Avant really does it for me.
