I just used a wide flat head screwdriver and very gently pried out the whole assembly to replace the bulbs from behind. No instructions - I just used the force ....

I used quite a bit of force too, but didn't work. Did you start prying it out from the front or rear end of the assembly?

I used a credit card to pry off the front of the housing.

Actually, I ordered the tool set from ECS as well.
I will give it another try with credit card. Thanks.

BTW, has anyone changed the reverse light to LED (with built-in resistor to avoid error warning) ?

I've seen such aftermarket LEDs but most will trigger the error, & require additional wiring with resistor).

Did the ECS install - super easy and makes the car look so much more modern. It's perhaps a tiny bit blue for my taste, but a huge improvement over the ancient looking yellow/brown color.

The pic in the front is with LED (perfect match to Silverstone leather and aluminum trim).

The second pic is with stock lighting in the rear dome.

Sorry for the late reply. I just used a wide flat head screw driver from the front of the panel.

After trying many times, I still couldn't get it out.

At the rear of my car, the overhead lights are 1 main + 2 reading. Is yours the same ?

Guess the assembly may be different for different country versions.

"Brightest" is not exactly a selling point in my mind. "Aesthetically pleasing" is much more appropriate for the M5 crowd.
