Would You Order Your New M5 F10 Now?!
Good day everyone,
I was planning to place an order for my dream car (M5) about 10 days back, but stopped after I've learned that the whole 5 Series F10 is expected to be facelifted for year 2014 instead of 2015 (which was expected based on history)... Regardless how big or small would be the facelift, I think it is wise to wait for it although it is really hard to wait... I feel waiting is challenging yet buying a car of such budget to get it facelifted in less than a year would be painful to me at least.. Any thoughts please !! |

I am glad you asked this... I have actually been asking myself the same thing. Only thing I keep thinking is that if the differences are just small cosmetic changes like what is being reported on here, might be worth it to wait and get a good deal on the 2013. The facelift might drive prices down.

Interesting I think this has been raised and many of us said yes. No one has confirmed the so called changes for the M5, and it's all speculation at this point. To answer your question I'm satisfied with my car, and could care less about the changes. If you chase changes you will never be satisfied. A good deal is always available no matter what, and good luck with your choice. I caution potential owners to look at resale it's a car, and no a piece of stock so it's moot. Yes I would still buy.

I'm waiting for 2014... I have personal timing reasons (and want to do a ED in late Aug or Sept), but I also believe the LCI will bring some nice updates...
That being said, if you are in a position to take on a new car now, I wouldn't let a potential update hold you back. The body style is going to be the same and it's 6-9 months of awesomeness you get to enjoy... Given high dealer stocks you probably could negotiate at least 5k under MSRP, no problem.

Like someone said above, nothing is confirmed for the M5. And according to the most recent 5 series LCI thread, they don't know when the M5 will be getting LCI. This makes me think LCI for the M5 might be delayed to 2014.5, 2015, or even non at all.

Im not waiting - i waited a whole year already. When the LCI doesnt happen on the M5 we will be seeing all the threads pop up for "should I wait for the 2015 M5 LCI?" There's always something bigger and better a year out, or in the case of Apple, 6 months out.

I didn't wait and made the right decision - it's all about the driving experience, not what the guy down the street has. I've had my car for 5 months and can't think of another vehicle that I would be this happy with!

Thought about this for 30 seconds and then decided to get on with my life.
Seriously, if you took this to its extreme you'd never actually order the damn thing. After the facelift, within two years the F45 M5 will be available, so perhaps wait for that? And so on and so on. I ordered my car a week or so ago, specced it exactly as I want it based upon what's available now and then sat back and started looking forward to enjoying it when the day comes. Can't deny the new iDrive thingy would be nice, but heyho ![]() |

Thanks all for your participation...
I agree, does the wait worth it? I believe that every single day passes with out driving such a joy is the real miss. Based on that, I went to my dealer and requested for a quote for the configuration I'd love to have... |

nv6425: Would you kindly share a couple of photos of your Imperial Blue M5...
Although I am in love with the Monte Carlo Blue, I like the fact the Imperial Blue is a bit rare... Thanks in advance. |

ya lci for the m5 may not happen in line with the rest of the f10 line up. so you may wait until 2014.5 or 2015 for that change if it ever happens. the biggest change for the e92 m3 was taillights and some option changes the front end was still the same it didnt change with the lci it still runs the old headlights so you may wait for nothing just a change in the ordering with option packages and probably a slight raise in msrp so if you want it and have the means now just go ahead and order it. go through one of the board dealers and get yourself the best deal possible.

What are you buying the F10 M5 for? My reason for buying is moreso the beastly engine under the hood, the fantastic interior, the excellent handling, the versatility of the car as handling like a fantastic sports car and also being able to be a nice family car as well.
The LCI update would be icing on top of the cake, but if you are always waiting for the next innovation/upgrade, you will always be wishing for something else. I think traditionally the LCI update for the M5 always lags behind the 5 series production cars by a year at least. I would not bank on the 2014 model year having the LCI update. Just my 2 cents worth, as I was also thinking of this question. In the end, for reasons mentioned above, I bought now for June 2013 ED. |

Buy now and don't wait. The system is designed to make you want to upgrade to the new changes every few years. You'll never catch up and stay with them.

Each to his own, but you can never keep up because the system is not designed to keep you happy with your purchase. Well wishes to all the current M owners, and good luck with your choice to all the potential owners waiting on some options that are not published/no one has seen. |

Hi there, I'd like to introduce myself as a newbie in this forum. My name is Ryan and I hail from Jakarta, Indonesia, the land of a billion potholes.
My sister's family is currently having this 'issue'. Her husband is thinking of acquiring an F10 M5 or a W212 E63 since their baby is reaching 1 soon. He's currently leaning towards the M5, simply because my late father was a BMW guy (who's only owned one BMW, actually). But he's also a quite taken on the E63's exhaust note and comfortable air suspension. He's thinking of waiting for the LCI, but since it will take BMW Indonesia quite a while to release the LCI (unlike Mercedes, who's already announced the W212 FL shortly after world premiere), but then again his car is already on the market, and has found quite a number of buyers. I'm not too sure about the situation outside of Indonesia, but here an LCI always brings a significant update, mostly suspension works (the locally-made E90 LCI is FAR smoother than the local pre-LCI). In my opinion, I think the LCI is worth the wait (in Indonesia at least). But then again, I'm not too sure on the situation outside of here. Just my two cents, and I would like to apologize in advance if this is not the right place to introduce myself. Thank you ![]() P.S. if you are asking why isn't my brother posting here himself, he's technologically challenged ![]() |
