HPDE or P-school?

hi guys

wondering what you guys would do. I have taken my m5 to an hpde school at Watkins Glen and had a blast. There is an upcoming event close to Boston that I was contemplating but concerned about brake pad wear. The track is about half the size of the glen so I don't think the speeds will not nearly be close. aside from the carbotechs, there are no aftermarket pads out there for the track.

The flipside is going to p-school. The basic class seems equivalent to the 2 day m school which I have already done. vir and Atlanta are sold out. But it would be nice to have some time behind the wheels of a p-car for future shopping perhaps and if I wanted to do future courses they require this class (m school does not qualify)

probably lots more track time with the hpde. I'm probably over thinking this (#m5 problems!). cost of pschool 3200 vs 500 for the hpde plus likely new Michelin afterwards and the possibility of brake pad replacements (I replaced pads and rotors after the Glen which was 3000+).

P cars are totally different animals. Rear engine with (in my opinion) a much more delicate line for the possibility of snap oversteer.

I've spent time on the track in Pcars and they just aren't for me.

However, you will learn much more from the P school than just an HPDE due to the quality of instructors that they have.

If the cost isn't a problem, I would do the P school hands down every time.

Alternatively, have you looked into Skip Barber? They run some quality programs and use a variety of cars.

What do you mean by this? Typo?

Did you mean to say that they aren't fun anymore?

Yeah that's a tough one. What cars do they use at P-School?

I'm still trying to decide I can do the Glen this summer. Don't know yet though.

Typo. My bad. Posting from my phone.

Meant to write that Pcars just aren't for me. I don't care for the rear engine setup and feel.

Ah I see. That's cool. What about the new 981 Cayman S? Mid-engined!

I want one so bad just for use on the track. Nothing else. Not a whole lot of power though, but it was 2 seconds faster around the track than the TTRS.

Never driven one, but I do like mid engine. Would not say no if someone tossed me the keys to take it to the track.
