The m3 really has gotten a bad name for mpg when in reality it is really no different than a 335 driven in a similar aggressive fashion.
Highway cruising at 75 you get 25 mpg in the m3 v. 28 in the 335.
Combined driving aggressively m3 gets 16-17, and the 335 is 17-18.
It actually has been within 1mpg of my 6 cylinder non-turbo bmw from a few years back.
I personally wouldnt care if it was a lot worse but that is probably the biggest surprise of owning this car. I guess when the bar is set SO low, anything decent is a really unexpectly good surprise!
