Hey buddy, thanks for the advise..
mounted non abrasive soft sticky foam on the backside of the bracket that mounts on the boot. and on the underside of the boot, i have some quite large washers before the nut was done up.. the washers are close to 2cm in radius and pretty darn sturdy. I can't even begin to tell you what a nightmare it was putting those washers on the back and then having to do up those nuts… probably the single most frustrating thing I've done in a bloody long time..
