No the different width is not because of different depth. it's different design based on the data from manufacturer of the car and the specification of suspension.. I know this kind of discussion is useless here when people change everything on their own (i.e the rims, the size of tire/rims/ suspensions and other things) but from engineering stand point, the tire must be designed based on suspension and all engineering factors.
As far as the tire warranty, that warranty is about defective part (tire). 13000 mile on a tire which is already worn is considered tear and wear and not warranty.
