I was in the same boat, almost 40 this year and 2 kids. Was considering a 911 then i thought when am i going to drive that and where do i put my kids... Decided on the M5 and now the whole family goes on trips and its the only car we drive on the weekends. Wife drives the XC90 R-Design during the week. I had an E36 M3 Evo in London that was fun but the M5 is a different animal altogether. I certainly don't regret it and had mine since October. Good luck.
