I have never heard of mid tier, it's either you are Top Tier rated by EPA or you aren't.

Mid tier is a term used in the industry for brands that add more of the generic addictive to fuel. There are only a handful of companies that actually have there own additive (Shell, Exxon etc). Everyone else uses a generic formula. Costco use the generic formula but adds more of it. Just like 76, and and few others. Kroger gas for example only has 1 time the generic additive. Same additive as Costco, just not as much.
