I didn't have a big list of must haves and the car I bought came with lots of options I wouldn't have specced new but the must haves for me were:
M-Multifunction seats (super comfortable)
split fold rear seats (use the car for all sorts and this was handy)
surround view camera (its a big car and this is a real help when parking)
harman kardon speakers (good music is important to me)
extra 12v sockets (random I know).
20" wheels weren't on my list but they are common and do look better, most people want them, they are on my car and I like them but they wernt a deal breaker.
Personally I would avoid keyless entry - my car has it, best I can tell its just a security risk and I keep mine in a RFID pouch all the time.
TBH these are well specced cars to start with, the options that are important are personal - familiarise yourself with what the options are and decide whats important to you.
Comp pack wasn't a big one for me - test drove both, comp pack had something about it but the standard car was already a monster so wasn't a deal breaker for me and I don't regret buying the standard car. Again some people will feel differently.
Good luck with the search!

Thank you for the feedback.
As you pointed out they are well spec'ed to start with being a flagship model for BMW.
I might try to dig out an old 2014 brochure from the interweb to get an idea of optional extras and make my list from there.
