Also in the WDC, some Ferrari and Mercedes feathers can still be ruffled in the final stage of the season. Sainz (#5 with 171 WDC points) is now closer to Hamilton (#3 with 201 points) than Hamilton is to Perez (240). Ferrari could ask Leclerc to assist Sainz in the uphill battle of snatching #3 away from Hamilton. Old fox Alonso is also still on the prowl (#4 with 183 points). Yet another 0 points for Hamilton could make Hamilton lose P3 in the WDC. So Hamilton better should be cautious with ambitious overtaking maneuvers. He deserves respect for giving his level best to get the #2 spot in the WDC.

With the stakes getting further raised for Ferrari and Mercedes at this stage of the season, it doesn't come as a complete surprise that both teams went out of scope with cars set-up. Maybe they were the only ones. Officially only the Leclerc and Hamilton cars failed to comply.

Let's see how the Ferrari and Mercedes cars perform during the next races compared to the Red Bulls and the McLarens. Can they still keep up with the Red Bulls and McLarens as they managed to do during the COTA race ?
With the plank rulings and DQ's it's looking that they will fall back from RB substantially, this is a huge blow for Merc and Ferrari and pushes the McLaren ahead.
