Regarding the Lions, it was just a whole big clusterfuck. 68 and 58 walk to ref, and 68 says he just said "report". Youve gotta clarify who is saying what when 2 of you walk up, and get confirmation from the ref that he heard, which it looks like the ref never acknowledged him. Then 70 comes in brushing his jersey, which is the unofficial way of declaring yourself eligible to a ref, and is how hed been doing it throughout the game, and the ref assumes hes doing it again. Campbell tried to get tricky, and tricked the refs as well. The Lions had the chance to correct the refs, the ref told the defense before the playclock even started, but they didnt. End of the day, the ref tells the defense who is reporting eligible, so going through that whole charade of 3 guys walking up to the ref to act like they are all reporting is just a good way to get it screwed up.
It almost seemed like they thought they could argue their position after the fact, and hope the refs sided with them, which would have screwed the Cowboys over on the 2pt since they had no idea 68 was eligible. Which, with how Cowboys games have gone over the years with the refs, was a pretty solid idea.

This. Bad coaching from Campbell. He tried to get cute and it didn't go well. I still don't see how the refs screwed them. They screwed themselves. What a bad decision at a critical juncture in the game. The continued attempts at a two point conversion, also stupid when you didn't need two points to tie. These teams are taking the no risk it no biscuit philosophy way too far. That shit will get you fired!
