Alpina will be positioned between the regular BMW models and the full M models — sporty, but still focused on comfort and luxury.

Like I said, give it 2-5 years and BMW will start commoditizing Alpina name as trim package available on all cars.
Just the same as they did to ///M brand, where "M sport" package is upsold on everything today.
It is the way.
