I tried VINs from my M5 and 550i, and the M5 is compatible but not the 550i. The difference is the M5 is LCI, so it has NBT, and I suspect that's what you need for this CarPlay.
Sounds pretty good. The previous incarnation had poor integration but this one can use idrive.
