Sad to see. The new M5 (consistent will all new BMWs it seems including the upcoming M3) will be bought by status seeking buyers (rather than active enthusiasts) that don't mind turbo lag, synthetic engine sound produced by the stereo system, and Ford taurus knockoff looks. These buyers have no intention of using the car to its fullest potential but only care about the M5 badge on the steering wheel and trunk. The M5 will be a whale on the track and will be a rough riding commuter that will never be able to utilize the full acceleration on the street. BMW has replaced enthusiast clients with status seeking poseurs (which based on record Q3 profits seems to be working well for them). This is a perfect example of why (after owning 13 new BMWs in the past 10 years), I will no longer buy BMW cars for track/daily use (although I love both of my X5's). It appears BMW aspires to be the new Infinity
Porsche for me going forward.
