Question Rear Reflectors

Front's are painted and installed.

I ordered replacement rear reflectors, and dropped them off to be painted today. It looks like the wiring harness actually plugs into the rear of the reflectors, and the bulb is built into it.

Once I get the painted rears installed, I'll plug the harness into them, but I'm worried the light will show through the paint (my car's Silver Gray). If I leave the harness unplugged, that will solve that problem; but then I'll get a "lamp out" warning on my dashboard.

What other options do I have?

Can I leave the harness attached to the original reflectors, and just zip-tie them to the bumper mount, up and out of the way?
How difficult is removing the rear bumper?
